Conservation easements are sometimes important tools for some forest owners.  
All Michigan counties are covered by at least one conservancy, sometimes multiple conservancies.
The "Heart of the Lakes" group has a couple of helpful maps that illustrate these conservancy coverages.
Map 2 better illustrates the overlap, but takes a bit more effort to figure out.
